Recently there have been a number of Athena reps have called stating a patient has undergone a Retinavue procedure at our facility and asking us for our NPI (National Provider Identifier) Numbers and Tax ID’s presumably insurance reimbursement purposes. These numbers are unique numbers given to Healthcare providers and business entities respectively. As we are a manufacturer we do not have an NPI and we wouldn’t give out the tax id number without written request. After speaking with Michelle Sunderhaft the EMR relations manager who works with Athena and she has requested that if we receive this call to capture the callers information and let us know so she can work with Athena to resolve this.
