Voalte Insight v1.1 Release Notes

Executive Summary

Voalte Insight is a business intelligence/analytics tool that gives hospital administrators the ability to easily monitor, analyze and optimize clinical communications throughout their organizations. The tool provides users a selection of pre-built reports, as well as the ability to quickly build, customize and share their own views of their data. The Insight 1.1 release is generally available on July 14, 2020. 

Voalte Insight is continuously improving between major releases. These release notes are an accumulation of features and fixed defects that have been deployed between VI 1.0.0 Oct 2018 and VI 1.1.0 July 2020. When a defect impacts data quality it is usually resolved and update is deployed soon after discovering.

Features

Insight 1.1 adds on to the existing functionality of 1.0 to bring a new look and feel for end users while expanding capabilities. These features are highlighted below:


Improved Explorer experience.

Voalte Insight users with Explorer permissions have experience improvements when creating custom Voalte Insight content, such as added functionality for creating custom views, which includes:

  • Custom tooltips.

  • PDF attachments in subscriptions

    • Prior to Voalte Insight 1.1, you could only receive an image in the body of the email. Now you can choose to receive an attached PDF, which allows users to easily distribute information and zoom in on large reports.

Note: Voalte Insight users should have knowledge of Tableau in order to create custom workbooks and views. Please refer to Tableau’s online Help for questions regarding formatting tooltips.

Multi-Server reporting.

Customers with multiple Voalte Platform ServersTM are now able to access the data with one instance of Voalte Insight.

Multi-server reporting comes with the following new views specific to customers with multiple servers.

  • Comparison – This view provides a direct comparison of usage stats for each Voalte Platform Server connected to Voalte Insight.

  • System Overview – This view provides usage stats for each Voalte Platform Server connected to Voalte Insight.

 

Single Sign-On (SSO).

Voalte Insight is now able to integrate via SAML to authenticate with your Identity Provider.

SSO integration allows you to use Voalte Insight seamlessly alongside your other tools, without requiring additional passwords. In addition, enabling this SSO integration allows your IT teams to more securely manage users who leave the organization by blocking access from all systems with one click in the Identity Provider (IDP). Managing

authentication through your IDP also allows you to leverage two-factor authentication provided by your IDP.

The inclusion of this feature has resulted in a change in the sign-in interface for all customers, regardless of whether you are integrated with SSO. Instead of typing your username and password on the same page, you will enter your username and then be redirected to the appropriate page. From there, the experience differs depending on whether you are integrated into SSO.

If you choose not to enable SSO, you will continue to leverage the secure local authentication within Tableau Server.

Note: SSO integration licensing is included with your annual subscription but will require purchase of Professional Service hours for implementation. Please contact your Customer Success Manager if you are interested.

Performance.

Enhancements have been made to reduce load times, improve reliability of data recency and maximize application uptime.

Improvements include:

  • Increased processing capacity by 50%, leading to more consistent data refreshes and application availability and decreasing the possibility of out-of-date data

  • Optimized calculations for Date Level selector resulting in faster query times for Voalte Platform Overview workbooks

  • Increased security due to greater data separation and permission capabilities

  • Faster load times of data from various database optimizations such as staging tables, sort keys and column size, resulting in more consistent data recency

  • Faster refresh times of the extracted data source into Tableau

  • Increased caching so that frequently accessed views will load faster from memory

  • Removal of recipient side of “Voice + Alerts + Text” data source. This data source was not leveraged by prebuilt reports and slowed extract refresh and view load time.

Note: If you use custom reports that previously leveraged the “Voice + Alerts + Text” data, you may leverage the recipient side of each of the other data sources in separate reports as a workaround.

User interface improvements.

The Voalte Insight user interface has been updated for maximum ease of use.

Improvements include:

  • Easier navigation:

    • Workbooks and views are now easier to locate with Recents and Favorites on the Home page when you first log into Voalte Insight.

       

    • The persistent Navigation menu allows you to navigate to central locations with one click.

       

    • A new Recents section lists workbooks and frequently visited views or items the system may think you will find useful based on activity.

       

  • Self service password reset

    • Instead of emailing support upon first login or when you forget your password, you can use the “Forgot your password?” link on the sign in page to receive an automated email to reset. Since passwords are not sent through email, security is improved and resets are faster.

       

    • If you don’t receive the email, it might be due to your organization’s spam filters. Email Voalte Support and we’ll manually reset your password for you. Upon first use of the provided temporary password, Insight will force you to choose your own password according to our system-wide password complexity requirements to meet the highest of standards, improving security.

  • Unified Hillrom Branding

    • Voalte Insight’s sign in page now displays the unified Hillrom brand showing Voalte Insight as one of the many products in the portfolio.

       

  • Removed “Feedback Survey” button. To submit feedback, please submit a ticket.

  • Bulk select filter values

    • Users can now use a keyboard shortcut to select a range of values from the list in a drop down filter. For example, let’s say you wanted to filter for all the 100 units that start with “East.” Previously you would have to manually check each box.. Now you can select those values in bulk in a few seconds.

Data retrieval improvements.

Enhancements were made to improve the efficiency of data processing so that it is up to date for users.

  • Backfill data can be processed simultaneously with new data.

  • Transformers are dedicated to specific customers to prevent improve data stability.

  • Optimized database keys, column size and reduced query steps for faster querying

  • Optimized file transfer process to increase speed of data loading into warehouse

Resolved Anomalies 

Key Release Note Summary
VI-216 Processing data into the warehouse periodically stops when there is contention in the data transformation service. This can result in temporarily delayed data in the reports.
VI-214 Stale DB locks are not removed automatically.
VI-213 The chat snapshot update query for missing delivered and read dates updates the entire table.
VI-211 Chat read audits were not included in the snapshot table if the read audit was not associated with the sent event. The chat_snapshot table did not contain a read date from the read chat fact or dimension records causing this data to be missing in reports
VI-201 A filter was incorrectly applied in the Voalte Platform Overview workbook. In the Adoption view, the Days Since Active filter was incorrectly applied to the Last Active Event sheet. The filter was adjusted and the issue was resolved.
VI-194 Dropdown filters in Call Audit did not include the Apply button. This issue was resolved.
VI-193 Some records did not appear in the Call Audit view when queried. The filter excluding the queried records was removed and the issue was resolved.
VI-190 Redact gets stuck if no audit events happen within an hour.
VI-186 At times, transform could crash from files not making it into /filed folder for reprocessing causing delayed data in warehouse
VI-176 When there is a TypeError, voice_snapshot stops updating for new callee legs that come in without a caller leg.
VI-175 If the audit system received and buffered a file, the file was not always included in the redact. For example, if a file was received at 1:00:00 and was not written to the database until 2:00:01, the file would not appear in a redact for audits received
VI-159 At times, files in transform that failed don't reprocess automatically causing delay in data for the user
VI-158 When caller bleg UUIDs will are null, error that doesn't allow those records to insert into voice_snapshot table
VI-142 Attempted calls were not included in the voice_snapshot table. This issue was resolved.
